ABOUT THE PROJECT

Dialogues for the Planet – Pre-Bienal Amazônia “Somos Todos Amazônia” promotes culture and debates on G20-related themes.

In synergy with the G20 meeting in Brazil, which placed the country at the center of global attention under the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet”, the event “Dialogues for the Planet – Culture and Consciousness” was held in Rio de Janeiro. It featured a series of cultural and educational activities focused on sustainability and the future of the planet.

From November 12, 2024 to January 31, 2025, thematic debates with specialists were held, along with the launch of a documentary and exhibitions of art, design, architecture, and technology. National and international artists participated, occupying various spaces across Rio de Janeiro, including Galpão Cultural da Marinha do Brasil, Aldeya Life Park, Parque Glória Maria (Parque das Ruínas), and PUC-Rio – Casa de Inovação.

The initiative, conceived by Instituto Bienal Amazônia (IBA) and Saphira & Ventura, aimed to connect leaders, specialists, artists, and citizens in a deep reflection on today’s environmental challenges, using culture as a tool for social transformation. The activities were part of a series of events leading up to the launch of the Bienal Amazônia, which took place during COP30 in Belém.

OBJECTIVES

Bienal Amazônia and Pre-Events
In November 2025, Belém, the capital of Pará state, hosted the 1st Bienal Amazônia, featuring 400 artists (both national and international), becoming one of the largest visual art exhibitions in the country. Holding the Bienal Amazônia during COP30 aligns with global discussions and decisions on climate change and other environmental and social issues.

The Bienal Amazônia aims to promote Brazilian culture, especially Indigenous culture, environmental preservation, and sustainable development, raising awareness about the importance of the Amazon rainforest. In addition to showcasing Brazilian art, the Bienal is committed to strengthening the local economy, creating jobs, and promoting tourism in the region.

Due to the G20 meeting in Brazil, the pre-biennial activities began in November 2024, featuring a program that includes art exhibitions, conferences, music, performances, cinema, new technology and architecture showcases across Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, and São Paulo.

ISSUES ADDRESSED

- What are the main challenges in Brazil regarding social justice, sustainability, and collective coherence, considering its position and social role?

- How can collective awareness contribute to solving these issues?

- What actions are you taking or suggesting to improve these matters, considering your position and social role?

Cultural events such as exhibitions and artistic installations conveyed these themes. Summits, educational events, and lectures on Technology, Energy, and the Industrial Metaverse discussed how technologies can help address or mitigate these problems.
